Arthur Singleton Johnston was elected for 4 straight four year terms to the office of Justice of the Peace in Tippah County, Mississippi. He was elected for two consecutive terms as a member of the Board of Supervisors. He served as Justice of the Peace from 1900 to 1916. He served as a member of the Board of Supervisors from 1920 to 1928. His great grandson, Arthur Singleton Johnston, III, served as Chancery Clerk of Madison County, Mississippi.

He married MARTHA LOUISE SIMMONS about 1889. (MARTHA LOUISE SIMMONS is #752.) MARTHA was born on May 19, 1871. MARTHA died on September 18, 1953 at 82 years of age and was buried at New Hope Cemetery in Ripley, Tippah County, Mississippi

She married FRED GRIFFIN on date unknown. (FRED GRIFFIN is #787.) FRED was born and died on dates unknown.  Her last husband was "HAPPY" MASSEY, a WWI veteran who served on an Ammunition Train.

169 vi. BUNIE FRANCES JOHNSTON (#788) was born August 27, 1902. BUNIE died on April 15, 1905 and was buried at New Hope Cemetery in Ripley, Tippah County, Mississippi
