19. SARAH JANE3 JOHNSTON (GEORGE GREGORY ("G.G." OR "GREG")2, LEWIS1) (#611) was born in Waverly, Humphreys County, Tennessee, September 6, 1822. SARAH died about 1863 in Randolph County, Arkansas. Her body was probably interred in Randolph County, Arkansas.
She married Don Carlos MOORE in Randolph County, Arkansas, June 14, 1855. (Don Carlos MOORE is #612.) Don Carlos was born in Tennessee about 1805. Don Carlos was the son of John MOORE and Eleanor G. MARBERRY. He married Sarah G. "Sally" PHILLIPS in Tennessee, about 1830. Don died October 24, 1867 in Randolph County, Arkansas. His body was interred in Randolph County, Arkansas..
Don Carlos Moore was a widower with at least 8 children, 5 still at home when he married the 33 year old Sarah Jane on June 14, 1855.
George Gregory's last will and testament, date January 10, 1877 (he died January 26, 1877), called for Sarah Janes children, "Martha Ellen, Don F. and Larkin W. Moore" to split equally one seventh (Sarah's share) of his estate. The will also stipulated that a conservator be name to "...receive and control the estate of my grandson Larkin W. to be used for the maintenance and education of said Larkin W. during his minority." Based on those stipulations, a couple of assumptions are warranted:
1. Sarah Jane was already deceased.
2. Don Carlos Moore was already deceased - otherwise, he would have been Larkin's legal guardian and no conservator would have been necessary (of course, a conservator could still have been named, but Mr. Moore would have been responsible for Larkin's maintenance." If Mr. Moore did, in fact, die as a result of an accidental shot from a gun in the hands of his son, Sam, as a number of sources indicated, he probably died in the late 1860's.
