3. LINDSEY² JOHNSTON (LEWIS¹) (#604) was born in North Carolina on May 1, 1796. LINDSEY died August 14, 1877 in Pleasant Grove, Pontotoc County, Mississippi, at 81 years of age. His body was interred in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Pontotoc County, Mississippi.

He married SUSAN CATHERINE SEAGER (Sager?) North Carolina, about 1823 or 1824. (SUSAN CATHERINE SEAGER  is #709.) SUSAN was born in North Carolina, June 15, 1808. SUSAN died October 12, 1894 in Lake Creek, Delta County, Texas, at 86 years of age. Her body was interred in Delta County, Texas, Pierce Cemetery.

Note: After Lindsey's death, Susan left Pontotoc County, Mississippi for Texas, for "one last visit" with each of three daughters who had settled there. She never made it back to Mississippi.

LINDSEY JOHNSTON and SUSAN CATHERINE SEAGER  had the following family:

+ 10 i. HARRIET ANN³ JOHNSTON was born in 1826.

+ 11 ii. REBECCA "BECKY" JOHNSTON was born in 1828.

12 iii. CAROLINE "LIZZIE" JOHNSTON (#746) was born in either Butts or Newton County, Georgia, in 1830. CAROLINE died in 1902 in Pontotoc County, Mississippi, at 72 years of age. Her body was interred in Pontotoc County, Mississippi, Longview Cemetery. She married REV. ST. CLAIR LAWRENCE in Pleasant Grove, Pontotoc County, Mississippi, January 25, 1874. (REV. ST. CLAIR LAWRENCE is #747.) ST. CLAIR was born in Kentucky on July 18, 1829. ST. CLAIR died in 1902 in Pontotoc County, Mississippi (probably), at 72 years of age. His body was interred in Pontotoc County, Mississippi, Longview Cemetery. Caroline and St. Clair Lawrence were living in Bell County, Texas, in the late 1870's, and that is the first place that Susan Catherine stopped during her trip to Texas.

+ 13 iv. MARY CATHARINE JOHNSTON was born March 12, 1834.

+ 14 v. JAMES L. JOHNSTON was born December 22, 1838.

+ 15 vi. JOHN CALVIN JOHNSTON was born 1842.

17 vii. SUSAN JOSEPHINE "JODIE" JOHNSTON (#812) was born in Chambers County, Alabama, May 18, 1846. 

18 viii. MARTHA J. "MATTIE" JOHNSTON (#1039) was born in Itawamba County, Mississippi, April 1850. MARTHA died December 30, 1917 in Pontotoc County, Mississippi, at 67 years of age. Her body was interred in Pontotoc County, Mississippi, Longview Cemetery. She married (REV.) FRANCIS MARION ARMSTRONG on date unknown. ((REV.) FRANCIS MARION ARMSTRONG is #1040.) (REV.) FRANCIS was born and died on unknown dates. His body was interred in Pontotoc County, Mississippi, Longview Cemetery.
