was born on June 26, 1916 and died in August of 1995 at 79 years of age.
She married twice. She married JAMES WAKEFIELD (#99) about 1936. James was born on unknown date and died in 1945 in the South Pacific.
She married JIM BUTTS (#100) about 1946.
Notes: (1) Velma E. Moore Wakefield/Butts was an
artist.
(2) James Wakefield was in the Navy in WW II, serving aboard the U.S.S.
Indianapolis. In 1945, the U.S.S. Indianapolis was assigned to deliver one of
the Atom Bombs, soon to be dropped over Japan, to Tinian, in the Mariana
Islands. Having delivered its cargo and departed the Mariana's the U.S.S.
Indianopolis was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine in the South Pacific.
James Wakefield was among those Naval personnel who lost their lives during that
attack, leaving Velma Moore Wakefield a war widow. She later married a man
named Jim Butts.
